International Symposia on Integrated Exposure Assessment for Hazardous Materials

چکیده
The Korean Research Project on Integrated Exposure Assessment to Hazardous Materials for Food Safety (KRIEFS) was assembled by the Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation, a subsidiary of the Korea Food and Drug Administration, on March 2010, to conduct a nationwide survey of infants, children, teenagers, and adults in order to observe and assess their dietary intake and exposure to hazardous materials. By understanding the exposure level of hazardous materials and the health impacts of food, oriental herbs, and health supplements, the project is building an empirical foundation for policies related to the regulation of hazardous materials. KRIEFS held two international symposia on integrated exposure assessment for hazardous materials. In conjunction with the Korean Society of Environmental Health and Toxicology, these symposia focused on fostering a dialogue over local and international experiences with human biomonitoring (HBM) as a means to assess human exposure to hazardous materials. For the first symposium, KRIEFS invited HBM experts from Germany, the US, and Canada to share the details of their projects. The KRIEFS introduced their own HBM project and was International Symposia on Integrated Exposure Assessment for Hazardous Materials

Integrated risk analysis for acute and chronic exposure to toxic chemicals.
The traditional practice to assess and evaluate different types of risk in isolation to each other are liable to give erroneous results. Integrated risk assessment is an answer to overcome this problem. This paper presents the cumulative or integrated assessment of acute risk posed by accidental release of hazardous chemical (e.g. chlorine) and chronic risk induced by toxic chemicals (e.g. cadm...
متن کاملAssessment of health risks of exposure to hazardous chemicals by semi-quantitative method in a gas refinery complex
Background: Gas refining is a process in which workers are exposed to different chemicals. This study aimed to assess the health risks caused by exposure to these substances in order to determine hazardous jobs and to present controlling methods. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on the workers at gas refinery in 2015. The sample included all the staff in operat...
متن کاملSemi-quantitative risk assessment of health exposure to hazardous chemical agents in a petrochemical plant
Background: Chemical contaminants present in the work environments include gases, vapors, and solid and liquid suspended particles. The number of factories producing chemicals has increased significantly. Each year, new products are introduced into the market. Consequently, the number of employees at risk of exposure to these materials is increased. Hazardous chemicals are used in the petrochem...
متن کاملارزیابی ریسک بهداشتی ناشی از مواجهه شغلی با موادشیمیایی خطرناک در آزمایشگاههای مراکز آموزشی درمانی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی قم
Background and aims: Chemical materials are very useful in our lives. Laboratory technicians expose to different chemicals. Long term repeated exposures to hazardous chemicalsmay lead to chronic effects. In this research the risk of occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals in laboratories of educational and therapeutic centers of Qom University of medical sciences were assessed. Methods...
متن کاملThe applicability of chemical alternatives assessment for engineered nanomaterials.
The use of alternatives assessment to substitute hazardous chemicals with inherently safer options is gaining momentum worldwide as a legislative and corporate strategy to minimize consumer, occupational, and environmental risks. Engineered nanomaterials represent an interesting case for alternatives assessment approaches, because they can be considered both emerging "chemicals" of concern, as ...
